Magic Jack: a Tool to Bring you Closer to your Loved Ones

Friday, January 8th, 2010

You may perhaps agree that the world has become a smaller place. People leave the country for trips abroad all the time. In fact, you may even have family on the other side of the world.

If you think that staying connected to the people you love puts a toll in your pocket, think again. Technology has made it possible for you and your loved ones to stay in contact, as if they live just right across the street.

The magic of Magic Jack

One such technological innovation is the Magic Jack. In a nutshell, it allows you to make local calls for free. On the other hand, international calls are surprisingly inexpensive to make. It is easy to install and easy to update, and using it is even easier. You just plug it in a USB port in your computer, plug in a telephone into its opposite side and you are good to go.

The quality of the call is at par with actually using your phone. The only downside is that its operation depends heavily upon high-speed internet connection. Nonetheless, this is easy to remedy and maintain, as long as you dutifully pay your internet service bills.

So lookup your long distance friends on Facebook or find cell phone numbers online and start using your Magic Jack to save on long distance phone calls and have a second phone number.

Privilege of watching movie

Saturday, December 12th, 2009

Downloading first run movies from the internet for free is illegal. They don’t tolerate it and you will be caught eventually. Losing your internet for life is painful enough. Do you also want to pay thousands of dollars for the privilege of watching that movie? Just go the theater. When you download a movie file using a file sharing program one of the requirements of the peer to peer software you used is that you make that file (and all others) available to other users of the system. This means that in the middle of the night someone half way across the world can find a copy of the latest movie upload on your hard drive and download it direct from you.

At this point you become a pusher of the movie, and the copyright infringement groups track you down through your IP address. They find out who owns the IP address (your internet provider) and they require your ISP to turn off your internet connection. If you sign that form and get caught upload file to another illegally, the punishment usually involves the permanent cancellation of your internet service, and the release of your name, address and usage logs to the authorities. Think about that. They will then know exactly who you are, you will no longer be a number, and they can sue you in court.
